OMG! They Changed Facebook!

It's like being surprised by the sun rising every morning.

Normally, I'm not a huge fan of the changes, mostly because I've only just got used to the old new and it's always a bit of a hassle to have to go through all your privacy & account settings to make sure nothing's been changed by someone other than you, and to try to figure all the new stuff out. But, we get used to it. Every single time we get used to it. For once, I wish Facebook would change back to how it was just to see if people complained just as much as when it changed to what it is - if you see what I mean.

Anyway! This time, I am a fan of the changes. I love the ticker tape, I love the new lists, I love that I don't have to go to profiles every time I want to comment on something or write the obligatory 'happy birthday!', and I'm not bothered one bit by the new News Feed.

The more I use Facebook, the more my feed looks like the old feed - the most recent posts are first. It's a smart move to make you use Facebook more. I've simply gone through my friends, made lists (which is extremely easy to do) and bingo - my feed shows me what I want.

For once, I can't figure out why everyone's complaining. Mind you, it's probably far too early to be writing this given that today, as far as we know, Facebook will announce even more changes. I, for one, am excited.

That was all. Just had to get it out.

Gimme Gimme Gimme!

I've recently discovered the Gimme Bar. I might be a little bit in love with it as it basically gives me everything I've ever wanted. Well, not exactly. It allows me to do almost everything I've wanted to do online.

It lets me save images, videos, bit of text, whole pages - anything - for later. Public or private, gathered up in little collections for me to share or come back to later.

I'm constantly finding things I want to look at later, or be reminded of, or think that one day I'll buy, and I either stick them on Pinboard or add them to TeuxDeux, but as much as I love Pinboard and TeuxDeux, it's not what they're for. Gimme Bar is exactly that; a place to store stuff.

Check it;

It's open for sign up until Friday, when it will close again for a while. This is because SwissMiss, Queen of all Blogging Cool, blogged about it. Thank you, Tina. So - go! Sign up! Gimme!

Want to be Friends on Facebook?

I never usually 'connect with Facebook'. I just don't like letting everything access my everything, but for some reason (probably who posted it originally) I thought that I'd make an exception for this. I'm glad I did - it's pretty damn cool.

Once connected with Facebook, the film begins. You're watching 3 teenage girls, each in their own home, discussing, basically, how hot and amazing you are. Two of them are totally normal lovesick teenagers. The other, well, let's just say you wouldn't want to meet her in a dark alley. But apparently, you did.

Notruf Deutschland is a German TV show, a kind of real life crime solving thing (from what I can make out), and this Facebook app certainly gives the chills they're looking for.

After seeing 'myself' in a sack on the floor of a room, walls adorned with my photos and what I presume to be my blood, I thought that was it. Pretty cool.

Then I got an email with a link to my video in it, and a link to the Facebook app.

Fair enough - they have my info. After I saw this, I deleted the app (I hate a messy Facebook).

About 3 hours later, I received a friend request. From Emily Borowczyk. Who the hell is Emily Borowczyk? It wasn't until I looked at the friend request on Facebook that I realised who it was...

It was my captor, friending me on Facebook.

Freaky.

I wonder how long this will go on before Facebook has an issue with it? Maybe they won't, who knows. I for one love this. It's taking the usual campaign one step further, and really touching the user. I must admit that even though I smiled once I knew who she was and what it was, I must admit at first, I felt a little chill.

Maybe I'm just easy.
