Tintypes From Helmand Province, Afghanistan

Ed Drew, photographer and California Air National Guard aerial gunner, got his fellow soliders to sit for tintypes, a very slow and methodical type of photography, taking around 40 minutes for each photo. The results are so beautiful and interesting, both modern and vintage, and somehow capture the grit of war far better than HD colour.
