Two blogs about a whole lot of nothing

Jesus is a Cylon (Said the Joker to the Thief).

I was watching American Beauty last night with the cat, when suddenly, during one scene in the garage, the song in the background snapped me back in to reality. Battlestar reality. If there is such a thing. If not, there should be.
Anyway, I had heard the song before, or rather, I had heard the lyrics before, in, yes, the final episode of Battlestar.

'There must be some way out of here', said the joker to the thief.
'There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.'

This is what is said by Starbuck and Apollo as she magically appears before him, to lead him to earth.

(By the way, as you can probably tell, I am bored again and so this is one of those mostly nonsense entries which is of no interest to anyone really. Except maybe me one day).

I did not know it was a Dylan song. I should be ashamed, but I'm not.

The whole song:

"There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief,
"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth."

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.

Now, interpretations.

Jesus is often portrayed as the Joker card in Taroh cards.
Jesus was crucified next to thieves.
The song itself is sometimes considered to describe the destruction of Babylon.

This is one theory I found which I think is pretty accurate, especially given the relation it can have to the programme:

"The Joker is Jesus, and the thief is one on the cross next to him. Businessmen (the disciples) drank Jesus's wine and "plowmen dug his earth," not understanding the value of what they'd been given. The thief then tells him that a lot of people don't take life and heaven seriously ("There are many here among us Who feel that life is but a joke"), but they'd already seen that and they don't have to worry about being responsible for the destruction that's going to take place soon. The scene then abruptly changes to one in Vietnam, with princes and peasants keeping watch. "Outside in the distance A wildcat did growl" is a foreshadowing that something is about to happen. Two horses then appear in the distance, possibly one symbolizing a divine messenger (the Joker) and one a soldier (the Thief)."

So...........people don't take Heaven or life seriously.. Which is basically what the Cylons feel towards humans.
We are missing the final Cylon.
Starbuck obviously has something HUGE going on - reincarnation.
The song is begun by Starbuck in the episode.
Following from the other entry I made, if the Cylons are progressing in all forms of humanness, then the final one will have to be pretty darn special.
And, following from the same entry, if we are all Cylons (big circle egg/hen/egg of life), and we were born from Cylons, then...maybe....Starbuck isn't an angel...she's not just any old Cylon....she IS the fifth and finaly Cylon...and is...well....Jesus...which would mean...that......JESUS IS A CYLON!

YEAH! By jove I think we've cracked it.

Anyway, that is my final say on the issue.

For now anyway. Until I get my sticky fingers on Season 4.
