Prattle & Jaw

Two blogs about a whole lot of nothing

Olla Condoms

Unexpected babies pop up all over the place, even on Facebook in these crazy days. Olla, a Brazilian condom company, decided to freak out guys all over the country by creating profiles for their unconceived children, throwing a 'jr' after the guy's name, and then adding the Dad as a friend (did that make sense? If not, watch the video).

The idea being, of course, that these unexpected babies can be avoided if you wear an Olla condom.

Quite nice, but also very risky given that you know nothing about the men involved, their sexual preference, their family history, their religion and so forth.

Lucozade Go AR

Old skool favourite Lucozade have wrangled Tinie Tempah and Plan B to promote the weirdly watery orange sports drink, adding (hopefully) a bit of their coolness to the drink. It's a pretty imaginative campaign.

My main gripe with this is really the same as the one I often have with QR codes - ultimately you're just directing users to a website. However, it is an effective call to action - how many hits would the site get (or how many views would the videos get) if there was no AR? I'd really like to see some stats from this once it's been running for while to see how many are actually using it.
