I've found myself watching a lot of the track cycling events at this year's Olympics, which is a bit weird as I generally don't enjoy watching cycling, and I don't know the first thing about it. They just seem to go around and occasionally drop back behind each other, but there's something hypnotising about it. It's a beautiful velodrome, a beautiful track, and it's all very Tron-like, something that definitely doesn't go unnoticed in this video for the Chemical Brothers' track, Velodrome. They were one of the five artists commissioned to compose a song for the game, and the video is by Crystal CG. I absolutely love it, and think that it is the perfect match for the 2012 font - it even makes the logo look good. Turn up the volume and go fullscreen.
Apparently this will be the world's first programmable t-shirt, which might very well be true, but it does is remind me of those awful 90s animated clubbing t-shirts. Do I want one? No, thanks.
I like this series of celebrity portraits by Craig Redman. "The portraits break down the subject’s face, borrowing from Cubism,” explains Craig Redman, the New York-based half of Craig & Karl (Karl is in London). “But whereas the Cubists broke objects down and rearranged objects in totally different ways, we pull apart and recompose faces in their traditional forms, focusing on individual components."
