C4 idents

So the new C4 idents are out and everything about them is incredible.

“Created by Channel 4’s multi-award-winning in-house creative agency 4creative in collaboration with Art Practice and Love Song, the five new idents feature scenes including an urban fox taking refuge in a decaying telephone box, a group of teenagers on the last day of school, a frozen moment of a Friday night and a celebration of Zoroastrian New Year. The 25 unique looping scenes create a tapestry of modern British society today as seen through the eyes of a diverse group of 17 independent creatives, artists, and filmmakers.”

Can you imagine this happening if Channel 4 had been privatised? No, me neither.

If you’ve got some minutes to spare, I can highly recommend having a browse through the previous idents. Below is the current, soon to be retired.

Isn’t it just mind-blogging that we have Maggie Thatcher to thank for Channel 4? It hurts my head.

This is the kind of creative bonkers I can’t get enough of, and honestly, I’ll put some money somewhere that it works. I know, I know, people will say ‘but metrics and sales data’ and all that, and I’ll say ‘brand awareness, long-term’ and all that, and the conversation will go round and round until I win.
